Spring is in the air and we will be open for business beginning Friday, June 1st! Come and check out our beautiful harvest barn that is filled with country decorative gift items, potted plants, fresh veggies, jams and jellies, salsas, dip mixes, country baked goods and more! Throughout opening day and into the weekend, we will have lots of yummy fruit and veggie dips, salsas, beef sticks, etc. to try out and taste! And for the kids...Harvestville will be OPEN this summer!!!! So bring the entire family and help us kick off our summer season by spending some time with us! There will also be plenty of picnic tables for families to gather, enjoy a snack and take in the countryside.
Summer Events and Offerings
*We are now currently accepting CSA Memberships for the 2012 summer season! Beginning the week of June 18th and running through August 13th, members who join will receive a weekly or bi-weekly "share" of farm fresh veggies. Produce ranges from fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn, eggplant, potatoes, green beans, broccoli, and much much more! To sign up or learn more click here for additional information.
*We will be growing a wide variety of seasonal vegetables this summer including: romaine lettuce, green onions, radish, rhubarb, bibb lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers-both bell and specialty, summer squash, cucumbers, and eggplant. We are also partnering with Hunold Produce, Slagel Farm, and Lengacher's Greenhouse to offer you a wider variety of veggies during the summer here at our farm.
*Aside of yummy fresh veggies, we will also be offering in-season Missouri and Georgia peaches; locally grown or gathered tart cherries and wild blackberries; Midwest grown blueberries and apricots; and of course cantaloupe and watermelon. We are especially excited about a personal size muskmelon called Sugar Cube-that is so sweet and delicious! Available in early August.
*Our summer baked goods will once again feature our Summer Peach Bread, along with a wide assortment of other specialty breads and cookies. You can stop in and see what is available, or call ahead for a specific order. We know several customers desperately missed our delicious Monster Cookies these past few months! Stop in and grab one during opening weekend!
*We will again offer pasture raised beef and free range chicken from Heartland Fresh Family Farm here in Donnellson. We will have a wide variety of cuts including-ground beef, ribeye and New York strip steaks, and of course their famous beef sticks! Fresh free range brown eggs will also be available each week.
*We continue to carry our extensive line of Kathy's Kitchen jams, jellies, pickles, salsas, and specialty products. Many of you enjoyed purchasing the dilled asparagus, brandied pears, and black bean salsa last summer! We also have a wide variety of easy to prepare dips-including garden medley, strawberries and cream, pesto, spinach, and bacon and cheddar.
*We are currently talking with several other Iowa grown and specialty product businesses that we hope to introduce to you during our Open House Weekend. And of course, we will once again be featuring a wide selection of gift items, outdoor patio planters, and herbs.
*Harvestville is OPEN beginning June 1st! Bring the kiddos out during regular business hours this summer to enjoy some play time on the farm! Summer activities include: rubber ducky races, giant slide, playhouses, play workshop, ball dome, trike track, horse swings, sand box, little tot slide and rocking horses, bean bag tosses, and more! There are also plenty of shaded picnic tables available for those wishing to spend an afternoon with us, along with lots of sitting throughout Harvestville for parents and grandparents. Come on out to play! Cost: $3.00 per child (2 and under are free)
