2011 Calendar of Weekend Events
September 3-4 Opening Weekend
Come see everything new that we have to offer this year! A newly themed 10 acre maze and a corn labyrinth for the little folk and the mature folk that just want a shorter walk; new activities and games in Harvestville; and lots of new items and local artists represented in our harvest barn. Also, come enjoy all the returning favorite activities-making scarecrows, birdhouse gourds, hayrides, bonfires, etc.
September 10-11 Grandparents Weekend
Each grandparent that brings his or her grandchildren to the farm this weekend and pays for Harvestville and/or maze admissions for their family will receive a free child-sized pumpkin for their attending grandchildren. (Limit 3 pumpkins per prandparent)
September 17-18 Grapevine Wreaths
Decorate your own grapevine wreath for the fall season with the help of our creative staff. We have a variety of wreath sizes available along with a wide assortment of silk and dried flowers/berries and ribbons to choose from. Need something fresh for fall at your home or office? Let us show you our bundles of decorative stalks, bittersweet clumps, or bring your empty flower pots, and we’ll help you create a unique autumn filled pot to greet guests and family at your door.

September 24-25 Harvest Baskets and Gift Baskets
Create a Harvest Centerpiece for your dining table this season. Choose from our wide selection of baskets or bring a favorite basket from home to fill with our beautiful produce. We have a huge selection of decorative squash, mini-pumpkins, and edible or ornamental gourds and other fall market items. We’ll help you choose the finishing touches, like a sprig of bittersweet or a pumpkin pepper.
Not feeling creative today? Just bring us your basket and while you enjoy the afternoon with your family, we’ll create a beautiful filled basket that will be ready for take-home when you’re ready to go! Cost: Price of materials used Create the perfect gift basket for a friend or loved on to brighten their day or help them celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or milestone in a unique way. Fill a rustic basket with farm grown produce, locally made jams, relishes, honey, country baked goods or decorative gift shop items for a very thoughtful and practical gift. Saturday Nights in October: Moonlight Maze
The maze will be open from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. every Saturday Night in October! Test your nerves as you brave the dark in hopes to make it through our 10 acre corn maze. If you thought our maze was tricky during the day, wait until you tackle this challenge! Bonfires and wagon rides to and from the maze will be running throughout the evening. October 1-2 Pumpkin Decorating
Come and decorate a pumpkin in a unique way! Staff members will be able to guide you in creating a beautiful decorative pumpkin that would be a perfect way to welcome guest at your home or add that "wow factor" in your fall decorating this season. By adding beautiful fall accessories to your pumpkin, such as ribbon, leaves, wheat, dried sorghum, acorns and gumballs, your pumpkin will become your main fall accessory. A staff member can even add a special greeting and/or autumn saying to your pumpkin, along with giving it a polished finish for a more personalized touch. It's a perfect way to celebrate the fall season! Cost: Price of pumpkin plus price of materials
October 8-9 All About Bees Come to the farm this Saturday and Sunday and see a live demonstration bee hive, and talk with Iowa beekeepers. Lots of information, hand-outs to take home and demonstrations to learn how much everything we eat and enjoy depends upon bees. There is no charge to view the demonstrations.
October 15 Nauvoo on the Road We are once again VERY excited to host "Nauvoo on the Road" this Saturday from 11:00-4:00. Demonstrators, dressed in period costume, will give us a glimpse into life as our grandparents and great-grandparents lived. Demonstrations will include brick making, rope making and candle making. There will also be a variety of heritage games for kids and families to enjoy! No charge to view the demonstrations.
October 15-16 Paint Your Own Pumpkin
A pumpkin is not complete without a scary, happy, or a crazy face! Use your artistic skills and paint a pumpkin that you’ll want to keep in your house long after the season is over! Choose from thousands of pumpkins. Paints, and brushes are available for use. Cost: $1.00 plus price of pumpkin.
While the kids are painting their own pumpkins, come browse through our harvest barn and see all of the hand-painted pumpkins we offer for sale. Have your own special request, or need a unique gift? Choose your pumpkin, tell us about your design ideas, and then give us a day or two. Our pumpkin artist will create something special just for you!
October 22-23 Skydiver Bobby Reid and Air Evac! On Saturday skydiver, Bobby Reid, will be flying high in the sky over the farm and finally landing right here at Kathy's Pumpkin Patch! Come cheer Bobby on and watch his amazing flight and landing this Saturday at 2pm!
On Sunday, Air-Evac will be landing at the farm! Everyone is invited to watch them land, take a peek inside the helicopter, and visit with the pilots and flight crew! Don't miss out on this annual event at Kathy's Pumpkin Patch!
October 29-30 Closing Weekend for our Fall Season!
End the season with one final trek thru the corn maze. See how much you have learned from your previous attempts. It's Halloween, don't forget to wear your costume!
